Welcome to Stone Harbor
A charming beachside community offering a tranquil resort allure.
Located in Cape May County on the southern tip of what is known as Seven Mile Island is the warm and welcoming enclave of Stone Harbor. This barrier island was once a juniper forest and was founded in 1722 by Aaron Leaming, naming it Leaming’s Island. The family owned the island for nearly a century, eventually selling it in 1891 to a development company that named it Stone Harbor —the name’s origin is tied to a mariner named Captain Stone who sought safe harbor in the area during a storm.
Stone Harbor provides a haven for architecture lovers to stroll the bucolic lanes and admire the many shoreside homes reminding visitors of sophisticated eras of the past. Many homes here offer glimpses of the charm and whimsy of Colonial or Cape-Cod styles and beautifully dot the quiet beach community. Stone Harbor is a magical place offering a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, with the neighborhood’s vibrant commercial district, with quaint cafes and shops, providing an ideal backdrop for leisurely strolls.
